In her 15 years of professional experience, Janavi has worked across investment banking, entrepreneurship, and venture capital/private equity in multiple sectors spanning organizations very small to extremely large multinationals that helped her develop a holistic view of diverse, urban and rural Indian businesses.
During the earlier phase of her career, Janavi had been an investment banking professional with JPMorgan (Mumbai and London), covering healthcare, consumer, and retail sectors, was a second-generation entrepreneur in the automotive ancillary space, having led strategic transformation. She also had a brief experience in physical and digital networking solutions with AGC Networks.
In the last six years, she has been in the venture capital industry, where she has spent more than five years in impact investing with Aavishkaar Capital, one of the largest impact funds in India. She exited it as Investment Director last year, where she led sector thesis in food & agri-tech, climate, and health-tech, ran end-to-end investment processes, took board positions, steered exits, managed relationships with LPs, as well as played an active role in fundraising, fund strategy, and team building.
Her most recent role was Partner at JSW Ventures, an early-stage venture capital fund, part of the JSW Group, a conglomerate operating businesses in the core sectors. JSW Ventures invests across pre-Series A to Series A+ stages in tech-first businesses spanning enterprise SaaS and marketplaces/platforms.
Janavi is a recipient of the “Top Under 40 Alternative Investment Professionals in India 2021”, a recognition of excellence in alternative investments conferred by the Indian Association of Alternative Investment Funds.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Telecommunications from Mumbai University and an MBA in Finance from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune. In her free time, if she’s not running behind her twins, you can find Janavi swimming, painting, or cooking.
